Hotel Grande Bretagne.Fava Beans

Thursday 5 May,Modeliciousbites went to a G.Bretagne event for Fava Beans. The event dedicated to the traditional products of Santorini Island that for years now speak to our taste buds and have won our hearts! Our professor S. Haroutounian Agricultural University, author of the file for recognition as a product of fava PDO (Π.Ο.Π product), Elias Mamalakis(sef) and  Kostas Skandalidis,Minister for Rural Development and Food  "traveled" us with their own unique way to Santorini island. At the end of the event we had the opportunity to try 5 +1 original island cuisine recipes from renowned chefs and taste SantoWines

What you dont know about Fava Beans?
High in protein and high in carbohydrates, but rather the uniqueness of the plant fava beans cultivated on the island for the production of split peas are the main features, as a product.
The sweetish taste, ease in cooking, is what characterizes  fava beans, a product grown on the island over 3500 years.
